Role and commitment of Commissioners

Our Commissioners are local volunteers from varied backgrounds who have a passion for tackling climate change They want to make our communities healthier and more sustainable places to grow up and live.

SHIFT is an independent body set up to support Perth and Kinross Council put in place policies to help tackle and prevent the damaging impacts of climate change in our region.

That means we can reflect the views and ideas of local people and help them influence local decisions. You can also help us encourage people in your own community to make what are often simple changes in their daily lives.

Being a Commissioner involves a small number of online and in-person meetings, but beyond that you can get involved in ways that suit your skills, interests and the time you have available. That could mean helping organise events, getting involved in campaigns, providing feedback on reports, or sharing ideas on how to make our city, towns and villages more sustainable places.

Register your interest to be a Commissioner

We want people from all ages, genders and backgrounds to be part of the Commission to help build a fair, climate-resilient future for Perth and Kinross. You don’t need to be an expert on climate science or even have experience of being part of other groups.

Most of all, we’re interested in people with passion, ideas and a commitment to their community – and we’re particularly focused on creating a space for young people aged 16 to 25 to get involved. Commissioners serve on a voluntary basis for a three year term, and are reimbursed for reasonable costs associated with undertaking their role.
